Poisonous thoughts

Today I had one of those many days it seems lately where I just want to stay in bed all day because I am being once again too hard on myself.Unfortunately we all have those dreadful days that brings on an unwanted pound or two, because we allow ourselves to seek comfort at the bottom of a bowl of ice cream or worst the shameful act of eating right out of the carton.. guilty!
But my day did not start out as such. I was quite motivated in the morning. So what changed you ask?
I honestly have no clue , I mean we only think we know the roots of our problems but we can only guess what the real cause of those bad days are. So far I have gathered that I'm not satisfied with the numerous things I want to accomplish and the countless road blocks I accounted  as you can imagine can be a serious downer. So I listened to my favorite tunes and wander the world of Tumblr to escape for an hour or two. I later realized that those bad and dreadful days are among many and when they do occur it is important to keep in mind that there are better days. Days that when we feel truly happy and if you must; the days when we feel on top. It is crucial to remember those days and keep them safe in your pockets, lock them up as a reminder that while those bad days seem to linger on , the better ones are always around the corner. Hold on to that hope and never let go, it will get you through the bad ones. I promise

Let's Get Flashy: Miranda Banana

Here is something that I could not wait to share with you all!
A few days ago, I asked the talented French native Miranda Banana for an interview. I am a avid reader of her blog Lets Get Flashy where she shares her love for fashion and her life in New York. She is indeed very talented believe me. She is funny, charming and such a doll. Ever since I came across her blog I have read it religiously, its captivating and her style is vibrant and original. Well anyways I wanted to ask her for advice and a few insights on blogging and decided to do a little interview and she gladly accepted. If you already know her then this will let you in on a few more little secrets, and the rest of you should really go check out her blog!

1. Tell us the idea behind your blog, in your own words what prompt you to start.
My blog was made for me at the beginning, I grew up in France and high school was a really bad period (people would make fun of me, or what I used to wear in school etc..) I had terrible grades and was really unhappy so I decided to create a blog to post articles, inspirations or outfits posts. I thought it might help me get away. It turned out people liked reading it so I continued!
2. Describe your style for us in 3 or 4 words?
My style... I never really liked describing my style because it’s such a huge mix ! If I had to define it with a couple words I guess I would say: punk, tom boy, military, goth and 1990's,

3. Tell us when you first fell in love with fashion?
My parents are both actors, they have a theater company so I've been around costume designers, musicians, composers, dancers all my life. I was born in an artistic environment I guess. But I started getting into fashion more and more around the age of 14.
4. How do you manage to stay so creative and innovative?
I guess I'm a very curious person.. I love change. For me it's important, if not I get bored so quickly. I love seeing or discovering new things. I always try new things out, even if it doesn't always work. Inspiration is also a big factor in my life. I don't know what people would do without it !

5. How has it been like moving from Paris to New York? How does it differs, how do you like it, and how had it allow you to grow style wise?
Paris is my home, so I will love it forever. It's a beautiful city, so many things to see, eat and discover but New York is so different. The most important thing about NY that Paris doesn't have is a variety of different styles, you can be whatever you want and people will accept you no matter what. Paris does not have that street style variety; it's more classic or chic. I always get stared at in the streets when I go back to Paris where as in New York people don't do that. It's kind of funny sometimes.

6. What is your favorite fashion piece at the moment?
Probably the drop crotch pants I just bought. I really love the form of it.

7. Your dream job?
Hummmm, hard question. All my teachers are asking me the same question at the moment; I would say something where I get to design or style on my own. I was told I'm very good at combining pieces and accessories together, I love doing that.

8. What is your favorite thing to do?
Making things. I love DIY.

9.Tell us something about yourself we don't already know?
I'm very stubborn! Me and my grandma, we are two of the most stubborn people. I never listen when I'm convinced about something. When I want something or don't agree, I always try to have the last word. It’s a good thing but also a bad thing. (It got me in trouble so many times in high school!)
10. If I could splurge on one thing I would buy..... a very expensive leather jacket. It's important to have one isn't it?
11. the most random thing in your bag right now.....SOCKS. yes I have a pair of socks in my bag.

and finally when I come to the city would you have lunch with me .. ( you don't have to answer that.) ….OF COURSE I WILL. Duuuh. :)

Too Cool To Function - Street styles off the Runway

This is way over due but here are the jaw dropping, heart racing, mind boggling, just down right out of this world street styles outside of the shows. I always love what I like to call " the shows that goes on outside of the shows" genius right!..  I know.  Even with the unfortunate appearance of Nemo; the storm, Fashionistas did not fall short of amazement. ( By the way, c/o of LiveRunway I was fortunate to attend numerous shows all week long.... from the comfort of my couch!. So you can imagine that my eyes never left the screen ,which did not allow me to do any school work, so I am wicked behind on my readings. So I have a few late posts coming up, but please visit Live Runway for more shows from London this week. They will not let you miss a thing.

Hello, February

I know this comes four days too late , but I think I can still welcome the wonderful month of February. The lovers month. Wish you all could hear the sarcasm in my voice. I'm not a sucker for Valentines day , but sometimes I wish I was because I have a serious addiction with chocolate and I love flowers; especially white lilies. This month signifies not only the lovers holiday but also ... Its Black History month. Are you excited! I know I am. February also reminds me that its really a new semester, the holidays are long gone , we're well into the new year ( even though I still catch myself writing 2012 on my papers). The first week of the month I know I must begin to befriend my textbooks. Luckily this semester I'm taking all major related courses and I love them all despite my terrible schedule.
Most of all , New York Fashion Week  (Fall 2013) is upon us, the most anticipated time of year. Beginning Feb 7-14 so I simply cannot wait to the "high priests" of fashion to tell us what is in for next season and also the highly anticipated shows that goes on off the runway; The Street style. I plan on going to the city this weekend hopefully. Sadly It will be a short trip but I am having serious New York city withdrawal that any dose of the city air will suffice.
