Too Cool To Function - Street styles off the Runway

This is way over due but here are the jaw dropping, heart racing, mind boggling, just down right out of this world street styles outside of the shows. I always love what I like to call " the shows that goes on outside of the shows" genius right!..  I know.  Even with the unfortunate appearance of Nemo; the storm, Fashionistas did not fall short of amazement. ( By the way, c/o of LiveRunway I was fortunate to attend numerous shows all week long.... from the comfort of my couch!. So you can imagine that my eyes never left the screen ,which did not allow me to do any school work, so I am wicked behind on my readings. So I have a few late posts coming up, but please visit Live Runway for more shows from London this week. They will not let you miss a thing.

Hello, February

I know this comes four days too late , but I think I can still welcome the wonderful month of February. The lovers month. Wish you all could hear the sarcasm in my voice. I'm not a sucker for Valentines day , but sometimes I wish I was because I have a serious addiction with chocolate and I love flowers; especially white lilies. This month signifies not only the lovers holiday but also ... Its Black History month. Are you excited! I know I am. February also reminds me that its really a new semester, the holidays are long gone , we're well into the new year ( even though I still catch myself writing 2012 on my papers). The first week of the month I know I must begin to befriend my textbooks. Luckily this semester I'm taking all major related courses and I love them all despite my terrible schedule.
Most of all , New York Fashion Week  (Fall 2013) is upon us, the most anticipated time of year. Beginning Feb 7-14 so I simply cannot wait to the "high priests" of fashion to tell us what is in for next season and also the highly anticipated shows that goes on off the runway; The Street style. I plan on going to the city this weekend hopefully. Sadly It will be a short trip but I am having serious New York city withdrawal that any dose of the city air will suffice.

Afro Punk Fever

For those of you who knows this community very well this might come as a shock that today was the first ever time I took the liberty of exploring Afro Punk, and to those less fortunate like my former self (12 hours ago) Afro Punk is an amazing online community that is designed to give" a voice to thousands of multi cultural kids fiercely identifying with a lifestyle path-less-traveled"."Afro-punk is a platform for the other Black experience, the one we don't see in our media".I I spent the afternoon today learning about their work and exploring the community. I gain lots and lots of ideas and quite amazing inspirations. Check out Afro punk I am sure you will not be disappointed. I think its a great place to get culturally inspired , stay informed about the punk/rock/indie subculture and also to get street style inspirations and hair trends from some very cool and creative individuals. ( this includes also a collection of tumblr and Pinterest photographs depicting the meaning of Afro punk and its many looks within the community).

I'm only wearing black until they make something darker

I started my spring semester today  yayy...sarcasm at its best. No but seriously I am glad to be back. After my seemingly long break, today felt like the first day of kindergarten, I was quite anxious and did not know what to expect. Overall I had a great first day at school, and things took a sudden turn on my way to the subway. The New Yorker in me thought that I could cross the streets of Boston without waiting for the "crosswalk sign" and almost was crushed by a Boston cab. Contrary to my beliefs they actually do exist!.
I called my mom to share my near death tale , which happens quite often than you may think. I found myself having a bizarre yet surprisingly humorous conversation with her. I shared my wish to be buried in all black whenever I kick the bucket, and we went on discussing funeral arrangements all including intricate black details .Quite an unusual conversation to have on a Monday morning. Well the point of this small tale of mine is that I'm absolutely obsessed with black  and I wear it every chance I get. Although my mother would disagree and say there is in fact a moral in all this and it is to wait for the cross walk sign to prevent getting run over by mythical creatures like Boston cabs.
